You call about one thing, usually a breaker that won't hold or an outlet that quit. Before we leave, we've gone through the panel, the breakers, the service entrance and grounding, the carbon monoxide detectors and whatever surge protection is or isn't in place. That's the 11-point inspection, and it runs on every residential service call whether the house is new or forty years old.
It's not an upsell pitch built around a clipboard. It's how you catch the thing that's about to become the next call before it strands somebody in a hot kitchen or trips a breaker at ten at night. A lot of the housing stock around greater Baton Rouge is older than the wiring methods it's currently carrying, and the fastest way to find out where a place actually stands is to look at all of it once, not just the part that's making noise.

A breaker that keeps tripping doesn't get reset a third time
Reset once, fine, that happens. A breaker that trips again on the same circuit within a day or two is telling you something the panel schedule from decades ago may not still be true. We don't just flip it back and leave. We check the load on that circuit, look for a loose lug or a connection that's heated up under the cover, and if the breaker itself is worn out from doing this too many times, we replace it instead of asking it to keep absorbing a fault it was never built to hide.
Panels in this part of Louisiana take a beating from humidity as much as from load. Corrosion works into a connection slowly, long before it trips anything, so a breaker that's tripped twice in a week is often the first visible sign of a problem that's been building for months.

What the carbon monoxide check actually catches
A CO detector that's past its service life will sit on the wall doing nothing and look exactly like one that works.
We test units on-site and check that they're within their rated service life, not just that a light is blinking, because a detector that's aged out gives you the appearance of protection without the function. We also check whole-home surge protection where it's installed, and where it isn't, we'll tell you plainly what it does and doesn't do: it protects the electronics in the house from a spike coming in on the line, it doesn't protect the house from a direct lightning strike, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you more than the device does.

A panel that's undersized, obsolete, or held together with double-tapped breakers gets replaced properly, sized for what the house actually runs today, not what it ran when the panel went in.
